Custom Silicone Rubber Heaters

Symtec designs and manufactures custom silicone rubber flexible heaters for applications requiring durability, chemical resistance, and conformability. Our silicone heaters withstand temperatures up to 232°C (450°F) and perform reliably in wet, corrosive, and high-vibration environments. Every heater is engineered to your specifications and manufactured in our USA facility.

Why Choose Silicone Rubber Heaters?

Silicone rubber heaters combine the flexibility of elastomeric substrates with robust heating performance in harsh environments. Unlike polyimide heaters, silicone heaters offer superior conformability to curved and irregular surfaces, higher maximum operating temperatures, and excellent resistance to moisture, chemicals, and UV exposure. Their rugged construction makes them the preferred choice for outdoor, industrial, and food-processing applications.

Symtec’s silicone heaters are constructed with wire-wound or etched-foil heating elements vulcanized between layers of fiberglass-reinforced silicone rubber. This construction provides mechanical durability, electrical isolation, and uniform heat distribution even under compression or flexing. We offer standard thicknesses from 1.5mm and can engineer custom profiles to match your enclosure geometry.

Technical Specifications

Substrate Material: Fiberglass-reinforced silicone rubber. Thickness: From 1.5mm (0.060”) standard; custom profiles available. Max Operating Temperature: 232°C (450°F) continuous; intermittent to 260°C. Watt Density: Up to 8 W/cm² depending on configuration. Heating Element: Wire-wound (nickel-chromium alloy) or etched foil. Voltage Range: Custom, from 12V DC to 480V AC. Chemical Resistance: Resistant to moisture, oils, solvents, mild acids, and UV exposure. Mounting Options: Pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA), vulcanized bonding, mechanical fasteners, or hook-and-loop.

Standard features include integrated thermostats, thermal fuses, and temperature sensor pockets for thermocouples or RTDs. Custom options include zone heating with multiple independently controlled circuits, moisture-sealed edges for washdown environments, and UL/CSA-recognized constructions. All silicone heaters are manufactured under our ISO 9001 quality management system.

Industries and Applications

Food and Beverage Processing: Silicone heaters maintain safe operating temperatures in food warming trays, vending equipment, chocolate tempering machines, and beverage dispensers. Their FDA-compliant construction and moisture resistance make them ideal for environments requiring frequent washdown and sanitation.

Oil, Gas, and Industrial: Pipeline heating, valve freeze protection, and equipment winterization demand heaters that withstand harsh chemicals, extreme cold, and continuous outdoor exposure. Silicone rubber heaters deliver reliable performance in these conditions with long service life and minimal maintenance.

Medical and Laboratory: Silicone heaters provide gentle, uniform warming in incubators, fluid warming systems, and laboratory instruments. Their conformability allows integration into curved enclosures and disposable cartridges, while their biocompatible construction meets regulatory requirements for patient-contact applications.

Transportation and Heavy Equipment: From diesel engine block heating to battery thermal management in electric commercial vehicles, silicone heaters deliver the rugged performance required by transportation OEMs. Their vibration resistance and wide temperature range ensure reliable operation in mobile and off-highway applications.
